We have had many new additions to the farm this past week. On Saturday, Michael drove down to Marion and picked up day-old chicks! We have 20 Plymouth Barred Rocks (they lay brown eggs) and 10 Americana (aka Easter Eggers, they lay colored eggs (light blue, light green, light pink)). We can't tell if they are male or female yet, so hopefully we will end up with 15 laying hens and butcher the roosters.
On Monday, Michael brought home a kitten from work. We have tentatively named him "Hiss" because he randomly hisses at things. He is really cute!
Yesterday, our Muscovy ducks hatched 15 ducklings! We put the ducklings with our chicks. Even though the chicks are 1 week old and the ducklings are only 1 day old, they are about the same size. It is so much fun to watch them run around.
